Q: WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE CAREER CENTRE DO?
A:This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada, Durham College and the Township of Brock
and as a result is able to offer free, confidential, employment related services to residents of Brock Township and
surrounding areas. Our professional staff has expertise in the career
development field. You have access to workshops, computer and Internet use, assistance with resumes and cover letters and local job boards.
Q:CAN YOU HELP ME GET A JOB?
A:Unfortunately we are not a placement agency. Our mandate is to assist you in you job search. We can refer you to the proper community agency if our service does not meet your particular needs.
Q:AM I ELIGIBLE FOR YOUR SERVICES?
A:If you are unemployed, about to become unemployed, are re-entering the workforce after an extended period or are looking for alternative employment, we can help you.
If you are currently receiving Employment Insurance or have established a claim within the last five years, we can assist you to define whether you qualify for special employment programs if they meet your needs.
We also offer fee-for-service packages for persons in a state of career transition. Call us for further details!
Q:I'M NOT SURE HOW TO LOOK FOR A JOB - SEARCHING FOR WORK SEEMS A LOT MORE COMPLICATED THAN IT USED TO BE.
A:Looking for work is a fulltime job. We can help you with your job-search, resume development, cover letter, as well as your interview techniques. We offer current, local labour market information too! Drop in and find out "what's hot" and "what's not"!
Q:I CAN USUALLY GET A JOB, BUT I HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING A JOB.
A: Sometimes we develop barriers or "road-blocks" to employment. Your needs may include assistance in identifying challenges that may impact on your return to work. Your counsellor will work with you to develop strategies to overcome them.
